Pmnts vs QuickBooks
If you need accounting, this isn't close. QuickBooks does double-entry books, bank reconciliation, expenses, payroll, sales tax and the reports your accountant expects. Pmnts does none of that. It sends invoices and chases them.
The only real question is whether you're buying an accounting suite in order to send invoices. As of August 2026, Simple Start is $38 a month and up; Plus went from $99 to $140 and Advanced from $200 to $340, effective 1 August 2026. Pmnts is $9 a month, or $90 a year.
If your books are a spreadsheet and an accountant at year end, most of what you're paying for is features you never open.

Be honest
When QuickBooks is the better choice
Three cases where switching to Pmnts would be a downgrade. If any of them is you, stay put — QuickBooks is the right tool.
You need real books
Double-entry accounting, a reconciled bank feed, a profit and loss statement that ties out. If a lender, an investor or a tax authority might ask for statements, you need accounting software — and QuickBooks is the default for good reasons.
Your accountant works in it
Accountant access, a clean year-end hand-off, and someone who already knows where everything is. That's worth more than the difference in monthly price.
You have payroll, inventory or sales tax to file
None of those exist in Pmnts. Not planned, not coming — they aren't the product.
What you'd actually get
Everything Pmnts does
It's a short list on purpose. Pmnts is not accounting software: no expenses, no time tracking, no bookkeeping, no payroll, no teams.
- Invoices out in a couple of minutes, emailed with the PDF attached
- A live invoice page clients pay by card from, straight into your own Stripe account
- Automated reminders and recurring invoices
- Eight templates with your logo and brand color
- CSV export to hand your accountant — a list of invoices, not a set of books
FAQ
Questions people ask before moving
Can I use both?
Some people keep books in something proper and invoice somewhere simple. But if you already pay for QuickBooks, its invoicing is included, and a second tool is a second bill.
Does Pmnts export to my accountant?
CSV export is on Pro. That's a list of invoices with their totals and status — useful, but it isn't a set of books.
What's actually in Pmnts?
Invoices emailed with the PDF attached, a live page clients pay by card from through your own Stripe account, automated reminders, recurring invoices, eight templates, your logo and brand color, and CSV export. No expenses, no time tracking, no payroll, no teams.
